What does this mean for the Mncs?
Haiti’s troubled past causes MNCs to stay away from the country. According to The World Bank, Haiti is ranked 183rd out of 185 in terms of starting a business. It takes over 105 days to complete all the necessary steps in the process. In addition, Haiti has one of the highest startup cost percentages (measured in terms of percent income per capita). This illustrates that Haiti is not a very strong prospect for MNCs to come and establish firms in. There are few incentives and a lot of work required to start any sort of business in Haiti, so MNCs tend to keep their distance.
